We are very lucky to have dedicated and responsible owners of this breed in Canada.   This means that the likelihood of purebred Kooikers in need of Rescue is very slim.  As well, the majority, if not all of the current breeders are very responsible and are willing to take back any puppies or adult dogs that they have bred. 

A possible situation that may possibly arise is when someone is no longer able or willing to keep their Kooikerhondje.  If this is the case, the first avenue for them to consider is to contact their dog’s breeder to see if they are able to assist in finding an acceptable home for the dog.  Remember, Kooikers are a special breed, and it is recommended that they go to homes where people have a certain level of experience with dogs and training.
