Code of Ethics and Code of Ethics for Breeders
The purpose of the NKCC Code of Ethics is to realize the goal of the missions statement. All prospective members will affirm that they comply with the Code of Ethics by clicking the “I agree” button on their application for membership. Yearly membership renewal will reaffirm compliance. If you are a breeder in good standing on the NKCC Breeder’s listing, upon agreeing to the Code of Ethics declaration, you must also click “I agree” in the Breeder section to affirm your compliance to the NKCC Code of Ethics for Breeders.
Constitution and Bylaws
The NKCC Constitution and Bylaws were approved by the club membership August 10, 2026. Club members are encouraged familiarize themselves with this document.
Member Responsibilities
Members should educate themselves and act accordingly on all aspects of responsible dog ownership. Dogs must be maintained with their good health and safety in mind, including but not limited to grooming, feeding, veterinary care, housing, training, socialization and exercise.
Members should always act with the best interest of their dog in mind.
Every Kooiker owner is encouraged to provide health information to the NKCC at KooikerhondjesInCanada@gmail.com . In turn the NKCC will submit the data to the Dutch Breed Club, the Vereniging Het Nederlandse Kooikerhondje (VHNK) for inclusion in the pedigree database.
Members shall be courteous, cooperative, responsible, respectful and refrain from denigrating another Member in good standing. The integrity of the Club is to be upheld in all dealings.
Whenever and wherever Members compete with their Kooikers, they will behave with decorum and due regard for the requirements of the host organization, its venue and at their lodgings.
Members shall place the health and well being of their dogs above the pursuit of awards. At all times they will conduct themselves so as to reflect well on the Nederlandse Kooikerhondje Club of Canada
Where possible, all members should be willing to assist in rehoming a Kooiker, if needed.
All breeders on the NKCC Breeder’s listing must agree to this Code of Ethics document and to the NKCC Code of Ethics for Breeders. Members who are interested in obtaining a puppy should familiarize themselves with that document.
Any member of the Nederlandse Kooikerhondje Club of Canada who, in the opinion of the Executive, contravenes this Code of Ethics may be subject to reprimand, suspension or expulsion from Club membership as provided for in the Club Constitution and Bylaws.
